The Product Certification was first initiated by TNB Distribution division as early as 1997. The Quality Assurance Unit at TNB Research took over the initiative in April 2002 as a second party certification body.    
This initiative under the TNBR Quality Assurance Unit is referred to as a Second Party Scheme as it is specifically for certifying products used within TNB only and not intended for the open market, as is the case with a Third Party Certification.      
In 2006, the TNB Transmission Product Certification initiative was launched for primary equipment. Within a year, the Product Certification Scheme was extended to cover secondary equipment such as protective relays, remote terminal units, meters and others.      
The purpose of this website is to guide applicants in the process of getting the Certificate of Product Acceptance, renewal and continuation of the certification by adhering to the Terms and Conditions applicable.
