TNB Research (TNBR) began its journey in 1993 as a department within Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), before evolving into a wholly owned subsidiary. In 1997, TNBR was granted R&D status by MIDA, enabling access to key government incentives that boosted its innovation capabilities.
To further expand its technical services, TNBR established a subsidiary, TNBR QATS, in 2012, focusing on accredited laboratory testing and advanced diagnostics. In 2019, TNBR QATS was rebranded as TNB Labs, marking a strategic move to strengthen its market position beyond TNB and support broader industry needs.
